Keep Warm This Christmas

Hopefully by now you have your Christmas decorations up or you soon will have. This December promises to be quite a cold month, and so it is important--if you haven't done so already--to make sure that you have all of your heating needs up to date. It is not too late yet, but it is getting close to being too late to do too much by way of upgrading your heating solutions.

If you still don't feel that you have adequate heating in your home it may be too late to do a whole big install of any items. Instead you might want to simply invest in some good sized portable heaters that can take up the slack of any of your heating losses. Depending on the price of fuel where you are you could either choose from electric portable heaters or gas portable heaters. You could also take a look at portable propane heaters, but while some of these may be alright for using to heat indoors, you do need to make sure that you have adequate ventiliation or that the heater itself has an oxygen sensor that will enable it to switch off should oxygen in a room get too low. This is not that easy to find, however, on portable propane heaters.

My recommendation is to invest in some electric radiant heaters. They will heat up objects in a room and gradually heat the room also, and if controlled by a thermostat these can sometimes be the most energy saving heaters to run.

Once winter is over, before next autumn or at least next winter rolls around you would do well to once again evaluate your heating and make any needed upgrades during autumn, before the chill of winter rolls around.
